We compare two commonly used procedures, namely, the iterative rank-dependent reordering (IRDR) procedure and translation process based procedure, for simulating homogeneous/nonhomogeneous non-Gaussian fields. identify limitations implicit assumptions of procedures. provide a new interpretation IRDR point out that there is no guarantee algorithm converges, suggest modifications in terms initial samples, iteration involving decomposition, convergence requirement to it become more efficient robust. The numerical results show that, depending on prescribed marginal probability distribution, use may not achieve correlation function, feature well-known if (i.e., Nataf system) employed.
